Hello students of Room 122! I am excited to be a part of such a dynamic group of talented artists. During my time at Northeast HS, I will be posting a little about the projects we work on and the artists we discuss in class. I also hope to share a bit about the people I find inspiring. As a painter, I have always been drawn to artists who incorporate patterns, textiles, muted colors, and dreamy subjects into their work. Some of my favorites include: Morandi, Vuillard, Milton Avery, Fairfield Porter, Peter Doig, Merlin James, Jonas Wood, Sanna Annukka, the Weiner Werkstatte, Kat Macleod... to name a few. Let me know what art inspires you!
For the past week we have been working on assemblage boxes inspired by Joseph Cornell.

You can find many of his boxes in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago:
